I value a collaborative relationship with my clients and I recognise the importance of taking into consideration your particular individual life circumstances, past experiences, and culture when working with you. The relationship we build will be a key factor in your therapeutic process.
I will always make sure that you feel comfortable, supported and listened to and I can offer a calm and steady presence. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have worked in the mental health field for ten years both in the private and public sector, including at Young Minds, Autistic Spectrum Mentoring and St Mary’s University. I currently hold a position at The Mulberry Centre at the West Middlesex Hospital, supporting clients with loss and bereavement and end of life care.
Sessions will be tailored to your unique needs and we will always go at your pace – you do not have to revisit the past if you don’t want to. This is a common misconception of therapy! You can very effectively maintain a focus on the present and work with that. During your time with me, I will encourage you towards empowering yourself and growing your autonomy in handling any emotional stresses, challenging emotions and relationships. Together we will begin to identify and explore any behaviours, beliefs or assumptions you hold which may not be helpful to you and causing you distress, enabling you to have the relationship you want both with yourself and others.
Working in a team means that I undergo regular peer clinical supervision as well as formal supervision, ensuring I am always accountable for working safely and ethically with my clients. It also means we undertake regular ongoing training to ensure our knowledge and skills remain current. I work from my practice in Hampton Hill. There is ample on street parking and good bus links to Hampton Hill High street which is a short walk away.
About Lucy
I offer a warm and confidential space to look at what is going on for you currently, as well as exploring your feelings, past experiences and patterns of behaviour that might be preventing you from moving forward. We will work at your pace and develop skills to help you adapt and react to situations. This in turn will lead to reduced anxiety and cultivate the resilience needed for improved self-confidence and overall well-being. Remote sessions via Zoom or WhatsApp allow you to have therapy from a space that is convenient and comfortable for you.
Life can present us with challenges and difficulties. While sometimes we can navigate these issues independently or with the help of friends and family, there are moments when we may feel stuck or overwhelmed. In such times, I can provide a fresh perspective, enhancing self- awareness, acceptance and decision making.
I have a particular interest in change. This covers, not only bereavement but also a change of circumstances. For example, job loss, career change or retirement, a relationship split, family and friendship rifts, moving location/expat concerns, health issues, anxiety, depression or loneliness.
I have worked with Young Minds, Princes Trust, Positive Pete and most recently as a volunteer bereavement counsellor at The Mulberry Centre supporting cancer patients, their carers and family, as well as the bereaved. .
I started out as a career coach and mentor and realised that being trained as a counsellor would allow my clients a more holistic exploration of what was going on for them.
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have regular supervision in line with the BACP recommendations. I am also a qualified careers coach and a registered member of the Career Development Institute (CDI).
